Shake Shake Shake

riceshaker

I have found that I really enjoy homemade toys, whether by me or someone else.  We’re fairly natural minded when it comes to play things, and it’s usually cheap to make something yourself.  While visiting a friend recently, E became fascinated by a shaker she had made using a plastic water bottle and rice.  So, once home I quickly grabbed a plastic spice jar (an old Mrs. Dash), filled with some basmati rice and super glued the lid shut.  Looking at it, I felt it lacked something.  I grabbed a teal blue sharpie and drew raindrops on the sides randomly.  Handing it to E you would have thought we’d just gone to the toy store she was so pleased!

Easy peasy and a win!  Have you ever made homemade instruments?  I’m always looking for ideas!
